Press-on nails have come a long way. Today’s options include custom sizes, real gel finishes, and adhesives strong enough to last two weeks without a single lift.
Finding the Right Fit
Sizing is everything. Most press-on sets include 24 nails in multiple sizes. Lay them against your natural nail before applying — the press-on should cover nail to edge without touching the skin.
Prep for Maximum Hold
File the surface of your natural nail lightly, push back cuticles, and wipe with alcohol. The cleaner the surface, the longer the wear. For extra longevity, apply a thin layer of nail dehydrator.
Adhesive Tabs vs. Nail Glue
Adhesive tabs are kinder to your natural nail and easier to remove — ideal for a one-week wear. Nail glue bonds stronger and can last up to two weeks, but removal requires soaking in acetone.
Removal
Never force them off. Soak your fingertips in warm soapy water for 10 minutes, then gently rock the press-on from side to side until it releases. Follow with cuticle oil to rehydrate the nail plate.
